Auto Consult Ventures Ltd. (ACVL), in partnership with the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), has carried out a joint inspection exercise at the Tema Port as part of preparations toward the deployment of a modern Gate Automation System.
The exercise, led by senior management and technical officers from both organizations, formed part of ongoing efforts to assess infrastructure readiness and evaluate the integration of advanced automation systems into port operations.
Officials from GPHA highlighted the need for efficiency, security, and seamless traffic management for trucks, container carriers, and operational vehicles entering and exiting the port. ACVL’s technical team, on its part, assured stakeholders that the new Gate Automation System will incorporate cutting-edge tracking, monitoring, and verification technologies to strengthen port security, streamline processes, and enhance revenue assurance.
Once operational, the Gate Automation System is expected to:
• Reduce delays and eliminate manual bottlenecks at gate points.
• Strengthen security through real-time container monitoring and verification.
• Facilitate accurate data capture to support operational planning and revenue collection.
• Improve traffic flow management for both heavy-duty trucks and light vehicles.
The inspection exercise is seen as a major milestone in the ongoing modernization of Tema Port’s infrastructure, positioning it in line with global standards of port automation and digitalization.
The teams from ACVL and GPHA concluded the tour with a firm commitment to collaborative testing, phased implementation, and the continuous training of field officers, ensuring that the system delivers optimal results when fully deployed.
